Phycology Journal is affiliated with the Federation of European Phycological Societies. The society was founded to promote the study, conservation and application of algae, to support educational activities and lobbying at the European level on matters involving algae, their present and projected roles.
For articles submitted in 2025, Phycology Journal has waivers available to offer that can be requested upon submission and allocated on acceptance. Once the standard peer review process has been completed and the Editors have made a decision to accept the article, authors without funding available won’t need to pay an APC. All publications will be retroactively indexed once the journal successfully applies to be listed in abstracting and indexing databases.

Phycology Journal is dedicated to the exploration and dissemination of cutting-edge research in the field of phycology—the study of algae. The journal aims to provide a prominent platform for discoveries and insights related to all aspects of algae, from their basic biology to their applied uses. The scope of the journal encompasses, but is not limited to, the following areas algal diversity and taxonomy, algal physiology and biochemistry, algal ecology, algal biotechnology and its applications, algal culture and Cultivation, algae and global change.
Phycology Journal invites original research articles, reviews, perspectives, and communications that contribute to the advancement of phycological knowledge, fostering a deeper understanding of algae and their significance in various scientific, environmental, and societal contexts.
Phycology Journal would like to draw our readers' attention to the 42nd International Conference of the Polish Phycological Society. Hosted by the Faculty of Biology at the University of Bialystok and the Polish Phycological Society, the conference will be held from May 27th to 30th, 2025, at the University of Bialystok in Białystok-Tykocin, NE Poland.
